About Type2Advice
Welcome to Type2Advice. My name is David Jackson, and I created this site for people who want clear, practical, and respectful information about living with Type 2 diabetes.
This site exists because navigating diabetes advice can be overwhelming. Medical information is often technical, scattered across many sources, and sometimes presented in a way that feels judgemental or unrealistic. The aim here is to translate reliable guidance into everyday language and to focus on what is most likely to help in daily life.
Purpose of the site
Type2Advice is an independent information site. It is not affiliated with any medical organisation, product, or diet programme. The goal is to provide calm, practical guidance that people can use alongside professional medical care.
The focus is on:
- understanding common advice and research in plain language
- exploring practical ways to support everyday management
- helping people think more clearly about choices without pressure or blame
The aim is not perfection, but progress: better understanding, more stability in daily routines, and fewer unnecessary obstacles in living with Type 2 diabetes.
Support, not blame
Type 2 diabetes is often described as a “lifestyle disease”. While lifestyle can play a role, this label is misleading and incomplete. Genetics, age, stress, medication, environment, and social factors all matter. Reducing a complex medical condition to personal failure helps no one.
This site takes a different approach: informed choices instead of blame, and realistic change instead of moral pressure.
A personal starting point
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes several years ago. Like many people, I initially found the advice confusing and often contradictory. Over time, I began reading research summaries and clinical guidance more carefully, and comparing this with what people describe in everyday life.
One consistent theme in the evidence is the relationship between carbohydrate intake and blood glucose management. This is why parts of this site focus on low-carb approaches, alongside medication awareness, monitoring, and broader lifestyle support. Low-carb is not presented here as a cure or as something everyone must follow, but as one evidence-informed option that many people find helpful in practice.
How content on this site is created
Content on Type2Advice is written with the aim of being:
- clear and understandable for non-specialists
- grounded in mainstream medical guidance and reputable health sources
- practical and realistic for everyday life
Where possible, articles refer to guidance from public health bodies, medical organisations, or widely accepted clinical recommendations. Content is reviewed and updated when guidance changes or when important new information becomes available.
What you’ll find on this site
- Evidence-informed articles Plain-language summaries of medical guidance and research.
- Practical guidance Everyday ideas for food, habits, movement, and routines.
- Resources and tools Curated links and suggestions that may support day-to-day management.
- A realistic tone No miracle claims, no shaming, and no “one-size-fits-all” solutions.
What this site is not
Type2Advice does not replace medical care. It does not offer diagnoses, treatment plans, or personalised medical advice. Decisions about medication, diet, and treatment should always be discussed with qualified healthcare professionals.
